H&M Holo the second – Mad about you

Don’t you just love how I posted these out of synch? *gigglesnort*

Anyhows this is Mad about You, the blue holo from H&M.  Like the others, the holo effect is more discrete than say OPI DS holos or Nfu.Oh, but the gentle nature of them is still very nice indeed.  This colour took 3 coats to reach a nice even opacity.

3:e innan 2:e… oops.

Again rubbish weather when these were taken…. yey dåligt väder,,,

Bit of a close up.

H&M Holo the Third – Sinful Senorita

It’s no secret that I love pink, so it’s no surprise that I’m quite in love with this colour. Sinful Senorita is another of the H&M Holo’s (and the second that the lovely Felzine acquired for me).  I wore this the other day when the weather was really rubbish, and even though it meant that the holo wasn’t as shiny as I’d like, the bright pink really made up for it.

The colour is pretty pigmented, and would work well as a stamping colour in my novice opinion.  I used two coats as there is a slight erm shimmer that took a little even-ing out.  I do really like this colour though.  :)

What do you think?

Vad tycker du?

H&M You Rock my world NoTD

Yesh, I got impatient waiting for my Nfu.Oh Nail mail, so I took Night party off.  The wear after 3 days was minimal (just tip wear) So if I ever see another that looks funky (and ideally in a sale) I may very well give it a go!  Anyways Today I decided to give You rock my world a go, the silver holo from H&M (which I got thanks to a certain wonderful person who you should check out if you don’t already)

Application wise, it was a little easier in terms of not smearing between layers than Nfu.Oh’s holos over the same (Depend Hydrating) base, however it dried a lot slower and was victim to me being impatient (hence my thumb obscuring my finger in these shots).  The effect is more shimmery and less holo than Nfu.Oh which I like in some respects, though at the same time it was a little streaky which I wasn’t *as* chuffed about.

Unfortunatly I utterly ragged my left hand taking pictures (as I said… impatient girl here!), so I can’t really talk about wear.  It’s a keeper for sure though – as the overall silver colour is *love*

Onto the pictures – all are flash as I was a little late this evening!

See slightly streaky looking.

And a close up for the final shot – hololicious!

Now I have a little question for anyone who may speak swedish and reads this – basically I’m considering (as part of trying to write better swedish) of dual languaging some of my posts – would you read the swedish or just not bother? Would it give you a good giggle when I fail?  If so I’m totally up for it, haha!

This was the first polish in a long time that I simply *had* to have, the one that kick started a dormant love for polish I had back when I was 15-16 years old.  I remember going to the store to buy all the 69p polishes they had every Saturday.  But back then there wasn’t anything like this available (1995).

I first saw this on the delicious Lacquerized blog, and although she has amazing pictures already. I had to revisit this one and do it some justice myself- especially as I have two new Nfu.Oh on my way ( 038 and 051 wie!)

The one thing that annoys me about this holo is that application isn’t easy and it dulls with my topcoat (and without topcoat even with base it tends to slide off my nails).  So I’m trying a new idea this time:-

  • Base coat (I use China Glaze ridge filler base at the moment.
  • 2 layers of Nfu.oh 065
  • Top coat (fast drying – demon speed)
  • 1-2 more layers of Nfu.oh 065

What I am hoping to achieve is that the flecks under the top coat – while less sparkly – will stay put, and the layers on top produce the ‘holy hell holo’ shine – losing a few sparkles on the top shouldn’t affect the overall appearance and hopefully I’ll have holo for a few days (pool permitting).

Anyways onto the pictures!  There’s a bit of an overload today – sorry!  I just love this colour!

Sunlight

So shiny!

Shade, even here its pretty spectacular, no?

Close up (I have a bit of an arse cleaning this up, think it’s because I secretly want my whole hand coloured this shade)

Shade (no flash)

Close up – no flash (can see the slight rubbishness of my nail at the moment, booo)

Sunlight, just om nom nom, right?

Sunlight – just look at that baby shine!

I hope you enjoyed my little revisit of my first OMG <3 polish. I’ll be drawing my give-away winner this evening – so watch out for that!

So finally, sunny day and a few play dates with my Nfu.Oh and I’m ready to review.

Nfu.Oh 065

I got mine from Affiniti (link on my shopping page) for £8.75 along with their acclaimed cuticle remover.  The shipping and everything from Affiniti was excellent and they included some glitter I passed to a friend who wears the prettiest acrylics.

The first time I applied it, it was directly over a China Glaze blue, and it took about 3 layers to get it fully covered.  It is fairly tricky to work with, as it seems the flecks if you aren’t careful and fast with brush strokes, move around from layer to layer (to me it seems that there’s not much polish but much holo if that makes sense).  I didn’t use a topcoat (they dull the awesome holo finish).  It lasted 3 days before there was too much chipping.

Since then the past 2 applications have been troublesome, and one I did for my sister utterly failed (though that was without a basecoat).  The holo seems to come away relatively quickly even with a base coat, leaving a less than covered finish, and it has a tendancy to chip at the edges.  So far my best method of application seems to be to apply over a day or two old other polish – ideally bluey in hue so it looks less terribad if you loose flecks.

That aside though I bloody love the polish, at the moment it’s definitely my favourite!

This is my Nfu.Oh 065, there are many like it, but this one is mine

This is after one night.  My middle finger is currently growing out from a removal of nailpolish (by chewing) disaster, so the cover looks lumpy, which is not the case on normal nails.  You can already see some chipping on my thumb.

This however is the reason I forgive any crapness the polish may have with application (you can see the patchiness on the top right).  HOLOLICIOUS!

This was taken in direct sunlight, and while you can see the holo effect I assure you it’s nearly blinding in person.

Another close-up.

I do really like the polish, Nfu.Oh has the most cute (if slightly tacky) packaging, and I do love it to pieces – this certianly is a holo not to be messed with, but if you can offer me tips on how to make it last I’d be such a happy kitten.

Emybloom gives Nfu.Oh a 3.5/5 rating based on the above.
