Nail Mail of Joy – Viis.es NoTD

If you follow me on twitter, the you’ll know that I’ve been awaiting a package from an e-tailer in America for over a month now. I waited till it was a month before mailing since I know mail can take time – but I’ve been told to wait another month. Le sigh…. I understand maybe it’ll show up, etc etc, but I obviously got sad that I’m waiting another month before something maybe gets sorted if you see what I mean – though e-tailer wise I totally understand it, just Gemma wise – well it made me a saaaad panda.

So I decided (much to my wallets dismay), to place an order from a store based in Europe  Viis on the recommendation of another nail blogger – Solveig (if you don’t follow her already, then go go, she’s super awesome!)  I ordered on the Thursday evening, and my items were with me on Tuesday – squee I love Europe sometimes!

I ordered:- Nfu.Oh054, 039, 116 and the aqua base

ooooh aren’t they shiiiiinnnnnnny?

Anyways initally I slapped them on to look at over my current mani, but that was pretty rubbish, so it was clear I needed to do something a bit better.  Cue last night playing with China Glaze – Sexy in the City and 054… it didn’t really work.

This is the China Glaze, two coats alone.  It’s a lovely colour but really likes 3 coats for a better opacity.

This is with 039 on my thumb (to be curious), and 054 on my nails.  I really picked a colour too similar to really show of the sparkles. Which made me sad when I realised this morning.

039 – in the daylight to try show of the mass of sparkle.

While at work I had an epithany regarding using  China Glaze – Scroll over the Sexy in the City, to give an almost duo-chrome effect. – this actually worked better than I thought it would (though I failed taking pictures) and I *will* be recreating the look soon so I can show you.

When I got home I decided to add another layer of 054 to see if the flakies were really sad Gem making, or if I just failed the night before.  To my squee joy, they are rather awesome added to this mix – the amount of squee sparkle really can’t be shown in pictures, but hell I’ve tried – just imagine it sparkling and looking duchromey at the same time!

(oooh looks I’ve being a fangirl again <3)

I’m in love with this look, and it’s craziness – what do you think?

I’m also amazed it’s dried since it’s:-

Going to be fun to remove. NOT!

China Glaze 5 Golden Rings

I used this under one of my Isadora Graffiti looks and loved how it worked out (I notice the awesome p’ssion going for a similar  look, so I’m not mad in loving it ;) )

Aaaannnnnyyyyways this is China Glaze, 5 Gold rings – picked up from a blog sale (not 100% sure which one though haha).  It takes 3-4 coats for opacity, but man it’s so shiny!  Below it’s sitting on my piggy bank and being all chameleon like!

You can see a little bit of nail line still, maybe another layer would still be good.

Lite VNL, kanske en lager till?

Much love for this colour though, I really like my China Glaze it seems!

Do you have a favourite China Glaze? Which is it?

Vampy Challenge Nails

This weeks PHD challenge was for vampire inspired nails.  So of course I couldn’t resist but join in.  If my nails had been longer I would have gone for the pointy look – but not going to happen with these little nubs!  I used China Glaze – Thunderbird and Lubu Heels and Eyeko Vampira Polish to create these looks.  They aren’t exactly ground breaking, but I had fun with them.

Somehow editting was utterfail here. Måste jobbar lite mer med photoshop!

Theses are the nails I went for in the end, along with a little bit of editting and some background on my Wampire!

What d’ya think?

Vad tycker du?

China Glaze – Thunderbird and Lubu Heels

The first of the swatches from my Magic Maid haul.

It’s no secret that I love China Glaze, and these are no exception, though Lubu Heels was a little bit disappointing, but we’ll get to that shortly.

Thunderbird was pretty richly pigmented, opaque in one coat, but two helped to even out it’s frosting somewhat.

Both with flash, crappy lighting. Både med flash? Dålig vädret idag!

So here we come to the Lubu Heels.  After asking for it in the sale, I was a little sad when I realised it was not so different to Eyeko Vampira Polish.

The first coat was really wishy washy – it took three coats to hit opacity.  I compared a little with Eyeko- in the rubbish light we had today it was hard to see the difference, but looking at the photos there is *phew*

Same way around here.

I think that the base black is much more jelly in the China Glaze which accounts for the slow reach of opacity – but it does mean it has a greater depth (which shows up a little in the pictures).  I will however play with these again when the weather is a little more conductive to comparisions!

Goodness from a good-un

So far this seems to be my week in terms of people who really are just too lovely for words.

Today is the turn of a lovely lady by the name of Magic Maid (well actually called Nicole but hey!)  She had a sale the other week, and I couldn’t resist the urge to get a couple of polishes.  She then proceeded to fill the rest of the box with some lovelies for me – silly, sweet, super lady she is!

From L-R

Claires Chunky Gold, Sally Hanson – Mellow Yellow, Fingerpaints – Artists Inspiration, Sinful Colors – What’s your name, Tapping Nails, Milani – Paint the town red, and my purry-chases – China Glaze- Thunderbird, Lubu Heels. and OPI DS Passion.

I feel like the luckiest little girl ever!  And the day was completed by a nice favourable council tax reduction – score!

Matte le ruff ruff (cherry pie pie pie)

I like layering, it’s fun and it adds another day of wear (at least) before I have to get the gawddamn polish off.  I dislike nail varnish remover.  Maybe that’s because I haven’t found the right one for me, maybe it’s because I have a tendency towards glitter, maybe it’s actually because I haven’t found one with the right type of fumes… That aside I think it’s the reason I’m so loathe to do any swatching. That and I don’t want to waste any of my preciouseseseses (unless they have summertime application of dhoom – *cough* older Eyeko *cough*).

Anyways, I decided to take the cherry pie into a look for the polish hoarder disorder’s weekly challenge (please don’t judge me on last weeks nails, I know they were pretty fail – but I really wanted to try).  This week is a greyscale look with a ‘pop’ of colour.  The biggest issue here is that I don’t have anything other than the H&M moonless night and a plain manicure white for the challenge… hmmm it’s going to be simple!

This is the first look I came up with. A simple matte ruffian – I used:- China Glaze- Cherry Pie and Matte Magic, and Moonless Night by H&M.

As you can see here application of the moonless night, wasn’t *perfect* but I tried, haha.

I love ruffians, I think I have an addicion!

Cherry Pie pie pie NoTD

Another day, another China Glaze!  This one came from a recent blog sale and is from 2009′s summer collection – which I seem to have a wee addiction to.  The name Cherry Pie, and like the others before it (Grape Juice and Watermelon rind) this one has the glass fleck shimmer.

As ever application was fine (I wore this as the first layer in my rainbow mani the other day, and I can say the removal is similar to a glitter :( ). this is with two coats and there is a slight VNL  which 3 coats would I think fix, but I have layering plans, so I stuck with two!

By the window, flash firing (damn clouds)

Close up on a uglee VNL, but yey sparkley

Artificial light and flash

Amusingly as I was removing the rainbow mani, I had some lovely bubbles where I’d layered the 5-6-7th coats, haha oh well!

Follow Rainbow, find gold = profit NoTD

So I’m a little ‘meh’ down in the dumps you could say. So what better time than to mess around and make some rainbows to cheer myself back up again?  I thought so anyway!

Using Lacquerized’s technique for ruffians I made these bad boys. Still not sure if they will dry…

  • China Glaze – Cherry Pie
  • China Glaze – 5 Golden Rings (I dont have an orange atm)
  • H&M – Being on the A-list
  • China Glaze – Watermelon rind
  • China Glaze – Sexy in the City
  • China Glaze – Grape Juice (coulda taken another later, but at 6 layers already I wasn’t risking it)
  • Speed Demon Top Coat (good luck drying this lot).

So now trying to do as little as possible before bedtime to give it chance to dry… heh.

Couple of Close-ups :)

What d’ta think? Am I mental for even trying this one, will it dry? Will I keep it on more than 12 hours?

Watermelon Kitty – NoTD Ruffian

I have a very very sweet spot for green and purple together, and this is no exception.  I *think* this could work better with the two China Glaze rather than with the glittery HK, but stuff it – I fancied some green/purple action.

This is of course H&M HK Cool Summer, and China Glaze Watermelon rind (which is clearly becoming a firm favourite of mine!).  Also showing off  one of my latest aquisitions – Cherry Pie from the same collection – can’t wait to try it out!

So what ya think? You likey leaky, or is my colour sense terrible?

Poolside watermelon rind – NoTD

I decided to go one further from the strawberry nails I made a few weeks ago, and so this time I went for watermelons!

I used :-

  • China Glaze ridgefiller base,
  • China Glaze – Pool Party,
  • China Glaze – Watermelon Rind (from this lovely lady),
  • A silver glitter nailart pen,
  • H&M Moonless night for the pips.

Left hand – as a leftie I’m pretty proud of myself!

Right hand.

I really enjoyed this mani – was fun to do something a little different to usual, and to work on the watermelon shape a little more.  You could use a flesh tone polish underneath the pink – the reason I didn’t is I have terrible trouble in the heat with bubbles if my polish gets too thick.  You could also add a gradient to a top white to make it more realistic.  What do you think, have I gone completely batty?

Oh I just looked at the date – my giveaway ends on sunday – so if you want to come play and win some Eyeko and H&M goodies then check out the link on the top right :D
