H&M Spending Cash with Carl

Long time no post, apologies for that one – been too busy having fun with Sophie- a friend who came over from the UK for a week.  I’ll be getting back to normal this week, and hopefully back up to painting speed – though I’ve had some feedback on what people like to see – and so will be using that :)

Så en vecka semester med Sophie – det är jättebra att åka rund stan lite – hoppas att bli normally nästa vecka med mer NoTD action, haha.

Sophie knows I’m a nail polish addict, so understood how excited I got in H&M on seeing this, Razzle Dazzle and Envy Me.  I also picked up Cha Cha finally!


Spending cash with carl is a lovely colour, this is two coats – it’s slightly lighter than in the bottle,, and this is with 2 days wear (which is pretty awesome if you ask me).   What do you think?

Nail Mail of Joy – Viis.es NoTD

If you follow me on twitter, the you’ll know that I’ve been awaiting a package from an e-tailer in America for over a month now. I waited till it was a month before mailing since I know mail can take time – but I’ve been told to wait another month. Le sigh…. I understand maybe it’ll show up, etc etc, but I obviously got sad that I’m waiting another month before something maybe gets sorted if you see what I mean – though e-tailer wise I totally understand it, just Gemma wise – well it made me a saaaad panda.

So I decided (much to my wallets dismay), to place an order from a store based in Europe  Viis on the recommendation of another nail blogger – Solveig (if you don’t follow her already, then go go, she’s super awesome!)  I ordered on the Thursday evening, and my items were with me on Tuesday – squee I love Europe sometimes!

I ordered:- Nfu.Oh054, 039, 116 and the aqua base

Anyways initally I slapped them on to look at over my current mani, but that was pretty rubbish, so it was clear I needed to do something a bit better.  Cue last night playing with China Glaze – Sexy in the City and 054… it didn’t really work.

This is the China Glaze, two coats alone.  It’s a lovely colour but really likes 3 coats for a better opacity.

This is with 039 on my thumb (to be curious), and 054 on my nails.  I really picked a colour too similar to really show of the sparkles. Which made me sad when I realised this morning.

While at work I had an epithany regarding using  China Glaze – Scroll over the Sexy in the City, to give an almost duo-chrome effect. – this actually worked better than I thought it would (though I failed taking pictures) and I *will* be recreating the look soon so I can show you.

When I got home I decided to add another layer of 054 to see if the flakies were really sad Gem making, or if I just failed the night before.  To my squee joy, they are rather awesome added to this mix – the amount of squee sparkle really can’t be shown in pictures, but hell I’ve tried – just imagine it sparkling and looking duchromey at the same time!

I’m in love with this look, and it’s craziness – what do you think?

China Glaze 5 Golden Rings

I used this under one of my Isadora Graffiti looks and loved how it worked out (I notice the awesome p’ssion going for a similar  look, so I’m not mad in loving it ;) )

Jag är så glada att det var bara jag att tyckte om gul och graffiti. Varför jag är alltid nervös att jag har fel när jag tittade på saker jag vet inte.  Jag är helt sakert om du läsa på svenska har att du vet p’ssion – men om du har inte redan tittade på hennes blog, det finns link på engelska.

Aaaannnnnyyyyways this is China Glaze, 5 Gold rings – picked up from a blog sale (not 100% sure which one though haha).  It takes 3-4 coats for opacity, but man it’s so shiny!  Below it’s sitting on my piggy bank and being all chameleon like!

Så har finns China Glaze 5 Golden rings – från ett blog sale men jag vet inte vilka!  Det tög 3-4 lager till opacitet, men det är så fint!  Har sitter det med min pengar gris… chameleon eller hur (hmmm chameleon på svenska… ush)

You can see a little bit of nail line still, maybe another layer would still be good.

Lite VNL, kanske en lager till?

Much love for this colour though, I really like my China Glaze it seems!

Red hot Magmah! NoTD

I’m feeling slightly Dr Evil with that title, haha!  Well I decided to go on a layering mission after getting all sad that my Nfu.Oh’s are missing somewhere (so tempted to make a NL order to cheer myself up in the meantime).  And of course I had to use Isadora crackle, and being a geologist by profession I *had* to think this one up!  It’s a bit more orangey in person – but I’m lazy (see the no swedish, this is how lazy I am) so I didn’t fix the colour in tattyslop.

I adore the sillyness of the crackle polishes, so expect a fair bit of silly layering from me.

I give you MAGMA!

Are there any layering experiments with the crackle effects that you’d like to see?

Paint the Town Red NoTD

Sorry for the sporadic updating – it’s probably going to continue a little while longer as I’m quite busy with work, and some bag comissions – I will be trying to get some untrieds out of the way though over the next few days.  I’m back at college/school/adult thou shall learn next week, so my posting might end up being a couple of times a week or some such – we shall see :)

This is Paint the Town Red by Milani, and another of the sweet polishes Magic Maid sent me with the blog sale stuff.  To be honest, while I love a good red, I’d looked at it, and put it back into the untrieds quite a few times before I actually put it on yesterday.  And boy did I regret not putting it on sooner!  It was a dream to apply – one coat gave opacity, I added another, just to even a few brush strokes out.  The formula was easy to work with, and the colour… well just gorgrous – it’s a quite vampy (according to the financer) red, with shimmering glances of golden orange, which give it a wonderful depth.  I’ll certainly be doing a wear test on it – because I don’t want to take it off.

So from yesterdays Petite Polish I then decided to play french manicure, but with a crackle twist.  This was my apocalypse nature manicure for the PHD weekly challenge and I really like it.

This was my attempts at layering for a bark-like effect.  I want to try this again at some point, but with matte top coat.  Personally I think I was trying to add too much :(

One French Layer NoTD

Quickie today as I’m trying to break the back of a database, and minimal swedish – sorry!

Eyeko you are forgiven, The first time I tried French Nails I hated it.  But since reading some other blogs I realised that  my thick ass layers and attempts at trying to get it opaque were just wrong (probably the same as the loreal I hated so much I fail-frankened…. oops.

Oki… Eyeko jag tycker om dig igen.  Tidigare jag trodde att den har ska blir opaque (argh jag vet det är fel, men ingen lust till google översätt…), men nu jag vet det är bara sheer. Om nom nom nu!

So it’s not totally got rid of the discolouration in only one coat (I have two coats on right now and I promise to share it later), but it’s certainly lightened it.

And to compare, here’s yesterdays naked nails in rought the same orientation…. it’s subtle, but better, right?

What do you think?  I had got rather upset at my fails with Eyeko polish (and some other reason, but that’s my silly head), but think I’m just trying too thick!

Anyways since I’ve been seeing a few people posting, I thought I’d join in.  My left hand is rather yellow, something about me and forgetting basecoat a few weeks back.  I daren’t buff it out, so it’s no sheers for me (which if you see my next post you’ll realise I didn’t stick to).

Isadora Graffiti – Black and Pink!

So here’s a little bit of early morning graffiti for you to look at!

I had some luck really the day before yesterday – I went to my local shopping centre and first off I spotted the pink Graffiti in the random nail olish box in H&M – so of course I didn’t waste a second in loading up with them :)  Then in åhlens I saw the rest of the display (not actually put out, but shush) so managed to get the rest.  The only one of the collection I don’t have is the yellow (white is in my PHD challenge piece so you’ll see that on sunday :) )  Anyways here are the pink and the black for you to look at.

Jag hade tur i för igår - först jag hittade den rosa i H&M, sedan den andra i Åhelns (inte precis ute, men men!) Jag bara missa gula men jag tycker inte så mycket om den.  Vit är i PHD challenge, så här finns rosa och vitt, varsågod ;)

The first thing I need to note here is see my ring finger?  Should have had more base coat, because it’s peeking through *hello nail!* These were applied over fresh polish that while had been dried 5min or so was still kinda wet.  I *think* this makes the crackle chunkier (check with the last pictures – the polish there was a day old), but if the base isn’t dry enough then it drags the base with it.

Hoppas du kan förstå på engelska vad jag menar, men det faktiskt går bra att vänta lite mellan först lager och graffiti. ;)

Black! No draggy problem here – see ring and little finger- muuch drier polish.

So what do you think? Personally I really really can’t wait to play around with these a little more – I see some really random idea’s coming to fruition, from texturing, to ruffians to well…. you’ll see some of my playing so far on sunday!
